Air Fryer
If you’re looking for a way to get crispy, crunchy food, but without the traditional frying process, an air fryer might be right for you. Here’s what we look for in an air fryer:
There are two main types of air fryers: Basket Air Fryer and Tray Air Fryers. Baskets were the original style, so they are more easily found with more options. They make it easier for you to toss, or shake, the food half way through to esure even crispiness. Tray air fryers typically come with a sheet pan and a basket, and have capabilities to also work like a traditional convection oven. They allow you to see the food while it is cooking, and typically, they allow you to cook larger amounts of food.
Air fryers can come with digital or manual controls, though digital is fast becoming the only option. You can select one with preset cook times (like “fries” or “chicken strips”) or go for one that allows you to set your times yourself. If you plan on using the air fryer in place of your oven, opt for one with more user control, so you can cook more options.
Like any kitchen appliance, an air fryer needs to be cleaned. Look for one with dishwasher safe parts, removable crumb trays, and areas that are easy to get your hand inside. They need to have completely cooled before you attempt to wash them, so if your counter space is limited, make sure you have the room to allow for proper cooling and washing in your plans.
